Smoky Quartz Gemstone Information
Information * Loose gemstones * Jewelry links

Smoky Quartz was often used for Victorian mourning jewelry. It is named cairngorm after the mountains in Scotland where it is found to be brown to black in color. The color comes from natural radiation exposure. Smoky quartz is also found in the Swiss Alps where different altitudes produce different colors and tones.
